CTSA's Intrepid TransAtlantic Cruiser

Greetings to All,

I know some of you have seen the articles in the local paper about Gretchen and Dan's cruise/race from Newport, RI to Plymouth, England.  Although they have done the Bermuda race (about 5-6 days) regularly and have done quite well, a ~20+ day ocean crossing in the North Atlantic is quite another thing.

If you want to follow their progress, dial up http://www.transatlanticrace.org. You can find their boat, "Shearwater" alphabetically near the bottom of the list. When you click on it, their icon becomes larger, so you can spot where they are. And if you reset the slider on the bottom and then click the play arrow, it shows you how the race progressed up to the present.  Kind of cool.  They're definitely not going to be taking any honors for speed on this trip, as they are playing in a field of quite fast boats. But they're SAILING ACROSS AN OCEAN.

Actually, they're literally kind of cool now, as they skirt the lower range of the sea ice. You also can check out their boat blog.

I know this blog post will get picked up at the same time as my reminder about Tuesday's Hyland House show.  Please don't let this distract you from that.
