Guilford Station, Thursday June 30.
Patty, Pat, and Veronica painted at the station. Patty painted the old water tower and garage from the shade of her car. Pat and Veronica sat in the breezy shade of the station platform and painted the station building, a puzzle of diagonal and vertical lines. Several Amtrak and Acela trains roared through and one Shoreline East train took on and discharged passengers. It is a very pleasant place to paint! Tom came by, having painted at the Guilford Docks again today.

Sorry, no photos of paintings today, and we were a little surprised that so few people joined us. I hope everyone who receives the blog post will remind other painters to sign up for these email posts at ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com

Call to Paint at the Guilford Train Station, Thursday June 30, 9 to 12.

Weather should be lovely, and you can find shade there if you wish. Directions are on the blog at http://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com.

I will be on vacation for the next two Thursdays after this one. The painting locations will be: July 7, Chaffinch Island Park; July 14, Clinton Landing. Again, directions are on the blog site.

I remind you that not everyone who needs to know this information has registered on the blog to receive these emails. Please help out by passing on the information to your painting friends. Thank you.

See you on Thursday.

Despite the forecast for showers, the weather at the Guilford Docks (Marina) was beautiful this morning. Several painters were there: Tom, Denise, Betsey, Pat, Veronica, Pam, and Diana. As usual, the boats and the shack were the main attractions. Some painters left early, so not too many photos this week.

A reminder: the paint-out schedule has been modified for next week only, Thursday June 30. Instead of the Deep River Landing, we will paint at the Guilford Train Station. Please spread the word - not all our painters are registered to receive emails from the CTSA blog.

Again, it is easy to sign up for emails: go on the web to the blog http://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com; in the right-hand column use the Follow by Email box to enter your email address. Whenever the blog is updated, the update appears in the blog, and you will also receive the update in your email in-box, which is very convenient.

Thanks,
-Veronica

Call to Paint, Thurs June 23, Town Docks, Guilford 9-12

We will be at the Guilford Town Docks (directions under Directions to Venues). Beautiful views of Grass Island with its shack, fishing boats, pleasure boats, the Lobster Pound and more. There's plenty of parking. It could be a bit rainy, according to the forecast. I remind you that it is your decision whether to take a chance with the weather. We will not be switching days; the schedule will only be for Thursdays.

The Summer Paint-Out Schedule on the blog at http://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/ has one change. On June 30, instead of Deep River Landing, we will paint at the Guilford Train Station. You'll find directions under Directions to Venues. Please make a note of this change.

On Thursday, June 16, the group painted at Mercy Center in Madison.

It was lovely at the Mercy Center.  The water was so calm & relaxing - nothing like the stormy weather in North Guilford when I (Patty) left home this morning.   The Mercy Center is always a peaceful place to paint and today's weather was perfect whether painting on the beach or doing landscapes.

We had a good turnout. Polly, George, Denise, Cheryl, Laura, Betsey, Liz, Lorraine, Rosemary, Jay Babina, Jeanne, Diana, and Patty enjoyed the calm waters of Long Island Sound and serenity of Mercy Center.

It looks like many of you were on the beach. Usually when we go, it’s too hot to be on the beach.   I’m glad that you all had that opportunity.  I’ve attached some pics that Jay and Betsey sent me (I had to leave early).

Today we painted at the Thomas Griswold House in Guilford. We had a good turnout: Kate, Keiko, Laura, Cheryl, Betsey, Veronica, Rosemary, Jay Bright, Denise, Jay Babina,  and Patty. The day was bright and blustery with scudding clouds that constantly changed the light. Patty took today's photos.

Call to Paint, Thursday June 9, Thomas Griswold House, 9-noon

Even though the forecast is for 17 mph winds, they are coming from the WNW.  The temperature is going to be 70 degrees and sunny.  So it’s perfect for someplace like The Thomas Griswold House.  We do have permission to be on the property anytime to paint, however, the museum is only open on Fri and Sat and no one can be there this Thursday to keep it open for us.  Since the house will be locked, there won’t be an accessible bathroom.  The town hall or library on the green are both close enough if you need a bathroom.

I will try to make it.  Hope you all have a good paint out.
Sally

DIRECTIONS to THOMAS GRISWOLD HOUSE,  171 Boston Street, Guilford
From I-95, take Exit 59 – Goose Lane. Turn south on Goose Lane. Go straight across Route 1 onto Soundview Road, and at the stop sign turn right (west) on Boston Street. After about 0.6 mile, the Griswold House will be on your left.

From points west of Guilford, take exit 58, take a right (south) on route 77 and drive till you dead end on the green.  Turn left, take next right, turn left onto Boston St and continue ~ ½ mile.  Griswold house will be on your right.

Notes from June 2, 2016

Jay, Kate, Joan McP, Denise, Cheryl, Tony, Isabel, Anne, Sharon, Diana, Tom, Veronica, Patty, Pam, Betsey, Rosanne, Jay, and Sally enjoyed a beautiful day at Dudley Farm.  Did I forget anyone?  And some of my candid shots of people painting didn’t turn out well so I didn’t send them, sorry if I disappointed anyone.

If only every summer day was like today! -Sally
