Call to Paint – Tuesday, 11 June 2013 – 8 AM – Hyland House, Guilford, CT
Greetings to All,
I sort of feel the heart of our season has begun when we paint at Hyland
House. And having it on the schedule early gives us plenty of time to finish our
paintings and get them framed up for our July/August exhibit – likely our only
show this year.
The weather looks a bit iffy at this point, so if the forecast still looks
questionable or doubtful on Tuesday morning, be sure to check the blog before
you go. Remember that even if you have signed up for the email link, that email
that goes to your desktop does not get sent until many hours after I post it. So
any time you’re not sure, check directly with the blog.
To make it easier to check in, you might want to add the blog to your
favorites, so you don’t have to enter the title each time.
Again, although I’ve posted for 8 AM, just come when it’s right for you.
And if you get there at 8 and I’m not there, just find your place and start. We
can paint anywhere – front, back, side... Some people set up across the street
on the sidewalk, and some people paint the neighboring frontages. Just remember
to keep a respectful distance from the private homes.
Directions below.
I hope to see you there.

DIRECTIONS: HYLAND HOUSE – 84 Boston Street, Guilford
From I-95, take
Exit 58; Drive south on Rte.77 through the traffic light at Rte. 1, and on to
the north end of the Guilford town Green. Turn left (east) for a half-block on
Broad Street, then right (south) on Park Street (clockwise around the east side
of the green). Turn left (east) on Boston Street. Go about two blocks.
Hyland
House will be on your left.
Park on the south side of Boston Street or on the
side street just to the west of Hyland House. If you park opposite the house
on Boston Street, please leave some windows between cars so that those who wish
to paint from the opposite sidewalk may do so with a clear view. If you do
not find a proximate parking place, you might want to pull into the driveway to
the west side of the house and drop your gear before you park, but be mindful
that you may need to be patient backing out into traffic on Boston Street. There
may be a few parking spaces available in the driveway.
