Indoor Painting Opportunity Still Available

Hello, painters,
There is still room in our indoor painting group! Below I repeat last week's post in case you missed it and may be interested in joining us:

A CTSA subgroup has been meeting in Guilford to paint indoors in the fall, winter, and spring each year for several years past. This provides a time and place to paint with others in a congenial environment. We all work on our own projects, in whatever medium we choose. The room has good lighting and plenty of table space to spread out our equipment.

We are organizing for the upcoming winter session, at the Guilford Community Center, 32 Church Street, beginning on Tuesday afternoon, January 8, 2019.

Here is Patty's recent announcement to our subgroup; there is room for several more painters:

I have reserved the Quonnipaug Room for Tues. afternoons from 12:30-3pm, Jan. 8th thru March 5th.  March 12th would be a makeup snow day.

The rental for the room is $800 for 9 weeks.  We will divide the $800 by the number who sign up.  I would appreciate it if you would let me know as soon as possible if you are interested as I have already paid the Community Center.

If you know of anyone else who might be interested that is not on my list please forward them my email.  All are welcome.

A New Blogger!

Dear painters,

I'm delighted to introduce Tom Mayer as our new blogger on https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/. He's been painting en plein air with us for several years and has ideas for bringing in new painters and adding new destinations to our calendar.

I hope you'll welcome him when we start up again next spring. You can also communicate via the contact form in the right-hand column of our home page.

In the meantime, I wish you all happy holidays and plenty of time to continue painting, indoors or out.

Best wishes to you all,
-Veronica

One More Chance to Paint Out

On Thursday next week, November 29, brave plein air painters may wish to paint out on or around the Guilford Green. I know there may be a couple of painters who'd like to give it one more try, depending on the weather.

In the meantime, there is plenty going on at the Branford Art Center. Check out their happenings at https://www.branfordartcenterct.com/.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Event at Branford Art Center

Our fellow painter Sally Brown sends us this note:

"I have been so busy with Branford Art Center.  I am currently featured artist there with my new series of wave paintings.  John Massimino is also there as our guest artist.

Massimino is doing a critique on Sunday.  He is known for his fun and instructional critiques. It’s $15 for two paintings (framed is best), oil paintings must be dry as he’s allergic.  It’s this Sunday at BAC, 1229 Main St, from 1-3 PM."

I've been to John Massimino's critiques in the past - I remember him as very good, very insightful, and very kind! Maybe you can stop over there and join in while you are out doing the Shoreline Arts Trail this weekend. And see John's and Sally's work at the same time.

Closing Out the Season!

Hello, painters,

I'm cancelling the last couple of dates for this year since attendance has dwindled to nothing (yesterday), it is getting a bit chilly, and everyone is gearing up for the holiday season.

But here is a little gift for you, an online magazine: http://www.urbansketchers.org/2018/10/drawing-attention-november-2018.html (be sure to look at it full-screen). The international movement of "urban sketching" is intriguing, and some of us have dabbled in it alongside our painting. It can bring the artistically-inclined together and offers a quick path to accomplishment for busy people.

Have a happy and healthy
winter, and see you out along the shoreline again in the spring.

PS, I learned about this from my sister Caroline in Dublin who has recently joined the Dublin Sketchers (http://www.dublinsketchers.com/) The world has become so small!
