Paint Out Tues & Thurs May 4 & 6, Guilford Green

This week we will paint on the Guilford Green and hope for better weather than last week. Directions as usual at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/p/directions-to-venues.html.

On Tuesday morning last week, Betsey tells me that a rough cold breeze was a distraction on the green in Old Saybrook. Four painters were there, Sandy and a friend set up on Main Street; Betsey and Alicia found spots on the green. She couldn't resist the magnolia but hasn't finished it yet. Thursday was rainy so, for the third Thursday in a row, I stayed home (I'm still enjoying painting on Tuesdays with the indoor group in the Munger Barn at Dudley Farm). Here are Betsey's photos (thank you!).

Paint Out April Tues & Thurs 27 & 29 at Old Saybrook Green

This week we paint at Old Saybrook Green, next to The Kate. (As you can see, when I was there in the past, workers were setting up for an event.) Directions as usual at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/p/directions-to-venues.html.

Last week, Betsey sent photos and reported: A very pleasant day at Essex Park on Tuesday.  Some hope to return on Thursday despite the colder weather promised.  Present were Tom, Keiko, Kay, Nancy, Eve, Yanna, Robin & me.  Cheers, Betsey
Kay also sent me photos. Thanks, both!

Welcome back from Florida, Tom.

In fact, Thursday was bitterly cold, 34 degrees on my porch, so I regretfully stayed home.

Paint Out Tues & Thurs, April 20 & 22, Essex Park

Essex Park is between the main street and the river, a very attractive place to paint. Directions as usual on our blog at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/, right side column.

Last week was at Dudley Farm. Some painters were there on Tuesday (including Betsey, Eve, Yenna, and Marilee), but Thursday was a washout. Betsey gave me photos of the previous week, at Bauer Farm Park. These are also below.

See you at Essex Park! Veronica

Paint Out at Dudley Farm, Guilford, Tues and Thurs, April 13 & 15

This coming week, we will paint at Dudley Farm (directions as usual on our blog at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/). Buildings, barns, old farm implements, chickens and other animals, handsome trees. It's all there.

Last week, painting at Bauer Farm Park on a sunny, just-about-warm day, Thursday April 8, were Robin, Jane, Betsey, Veronica, and Nancy (Eve was also there on Tuesday). The leafless trees had a haze of pink (maples) and soft yellow-green (willows). Chatting schoolgirls, small children running ahead of their adults, cloudless sky, bright green grass, a perfect spring day.

So lovely to see you all again after this long winter.

Paint Out April Tues 6 and Thurs 9, 2021, at Bauer Farm Park, Madison

 Hello and Happy Spring!

This week our season begins. Following our pattern of last summer, we will be painting both Tuesday and Thursday mornings each week at the same location, allowing everyone to choose which day suits better, or has a better weather forecast, or choose to paint both days. We will be at Bauer Farm Park, familiar to most of you. Directions as usual at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/ in the right-hand column.

Bring friends - we always welcome new painters, experienced or not.

I personally will not join you on Tuesdays until June, as I will be painting with the Dudley Farm indoor group.

Have fun!
Veronica

Painting Workshop Opportunity and Season Starting Soon!

Just a couple of weeks until we begin our 2021 season; schedule on page side column. Winter paintings from Betsey are below (thank you!).

In the meantime, if you are interested in painting indoors with others, you may wish to sign up for the following workshop:

Tuesday mornings from April 6 to June 8, 9.30 to 12.30, we will paint in the Munger Barn at Dudley Farm in Guilford - or outdoors in good weather, as you will. There is no formal structure - no particular subject. You bring your own work and paint with company. There are plenty of tables, chairs, heat, and bathrooms; bring your own coffee etc. The barn has lots of windows for good light. This year, you must wear a mask (or socially distance) and have had your Covid shots. Rosemary is in charge; she tells us that the total cost to us is $700, divided among the participants (usually somewhere around 12 to 15 people) and she anticipates that a few vacancies will be available. Once she hears from each of us, she will calculate the individual share. Please contact Rosemary Baggish soon at rbaggish@gmail.com if you would like to join/rejoin us.

New Season Starting Soon!

Our first paint-outs this year are scheduled for Tuesday April 6 and Thursday April 8 at Bauer Farm Park in Madison. We have the schedule posted for April and May, and as soon as Tom returns from Florida, we will post more of the months ahead.

Maybe you painted from your car during the winter? I'd welcome your winter paintings, snowy or not, outdoors or not, to post on the site and get us all thinking about the coming season. Please send them to me at veronicadotsoellatgmaildot com.

My Dublin sketcher sister sent me this link today, from a virtual sketching group in England. https://www.facebook.com/groups/virtualsketchleicester/  Such a clever idea and so many gifted sketchers.

I hope you have all been well this winter; it has been a long one, and I know we are all ready to get outside to paint, to see each other, to do something normal for a change!

My best regards to you, my fellow painters! See you soon.
