Neck Road Boat Launch -- 4 June 2013

Greetings to All,

We had a hum-dinger for our first Tuesday of the 2013 season. The forecast moderate northeasterlies were blowing pretty good out of the north/northwest by 9 AM, and they built through the morning. It seemed like it didn’t matter where we positioned our cars for a windbreak, the wind was sneaking around and blowing us away. The best laid plans – I checked to be sure the tide would not flood us out, but the wind forecasts just are not as reliable. All I can say is that a tail gate is a very valuable addition to the plein air painter’s toolkit.

Thirteen painters persisted – Sally, Tina, Betsey, Keiko, Jay, Bob VanM, Hans, Kay, Terry, Gretchen B, Margaret and Joan Hickey both out for the first time this year, and me. Our newest member, Marge Casey, came early but was recovering from a cold and thought she should not stay. Eileen had car problems, came just as we were finishing up, and escaped before the group shot.

Next week we will be painting at Hyland House in Guilford. If you don’t know anything about Hyland House, you might want to check out their website. This paint-out anticipates our group exhibit at Hyland House which is scheduled for mid-July through mid-August.
