Paint Out at Old Saybrook Town Green, Thurs Aug 1

This seems to be our year for town greens! This week on Thursday, starting off the month of August, we'll paint in Old Saybrook. Directions as usual on our blog at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/p/directions-to-venues.html.

Last week on the Guilford Green, it was pretty hot but not too bad under the trees. Tom, John, Betsey, Kay, Patty, and Veronica all painted, choosing views of buildings between all the parked cars (Patty painted the many tents left over from the previous weekend's Craft Expo, but she had to leave early so no photo this time).

By the way, many of the paintings our painters kindly allow me to publish here are not finished. But it may encourage everyone out there to think about joining us, wherever you are in your painting journey. You don't have to be an expert (although some of our painters assuredly are) but you can just bring your paints (oil, watercolor, pastels or whatever) and come to enjoy the experience and companionship.

See you in Old Saybrook.

Paint Out Thurs July 25 on the Guilford Green

Well, let's hope for a better day this coming Thursday than last. The Guilford Green is always a favorite with painters. Many interesting views on and around the park, including a civil war statue, and usually lots of people with dogs and children. Plenty of shade. Restrooms in the library, community center, and town hall. Directions as usual at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/p/directions-to-venues.html.

Below are a couple of photos of the Green, and, from one of our painters, Bauer Park a few weeks ago.
See you on the Green.

Paint Out, Thurs July 18, Plus a Show

This week we'll paint at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, directions as usual on our blog at https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com. This a calm and beautiful place centered around a lake fed by a stream, bridges, forest, picnic areas, beach, restrooms, etc. Shade.

Last week's was another lovely painting day, this time on the Madison Town Green, where there was plenty of shade. John, Betsey, Kay, Jay Bright, Tom, Nancy, and Veronica painted and sat around afterwards to eat and chat.

Jay Bright is having a show at the New Haven Lawn Club, 193 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT.
You are invited to the opening reception, 5-7 pm on Tuesday, July 23rd. The show will be there from 9-5 pm from July 17 till September 7. He describes it thus:

Paint Out Thurs July 11 at Madison Green

The Madison Green has plenty of interesting buildings and vistas, with trees for shade. Directions on our blog https://ctsa-guilford.blogspot.com/ in the right-hand column.

Last week at Essex Town Park was delightful; a hot day but plenty of shade with a cool breeze coming off the Connecticut River. Tom, John, Betsey, and Veronica painted happily until noon, then spent some time at Cooper & Smith, a large gallery just a few steps from the park, showing the work of many excellent artists. A few more steps to a local deli where we picked up lunch, and then we strolled back to the park's gazebo for a picnic.

Hope to see you at the Madison green.
